A/R: 111 Applicants File To Contest For NPP Primaries, Kyei Mensah, Napo, Adabor, other 3 unopposed- Sam Pyne.

One Hundred and Eleven (111) persons have filed their names to contest for the primaries in 44 constituencies by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti region.
The majority Leader and a member of Parliament for Suame constituency is going unopposed.
Other five MPs including the education minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh Manhyia and his deputy Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum Bosomtwe, Mp for Ahafo Ano South East Francis Manu Adabor, New Edubiase MP are the lone rangers.
Speaking on Democracy on Kessben FM and monitored by TVNEWSGH.COM, the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Sam Pyne noted that 7 persons are contesting for the Akrofrom primaries which the highest number in the Ashanti region.
Moving on, he added 4 constituencies have recorded 6 persons each contesting parliamentary primaries.
“We got 4 constituencies being contested by 4 aspirants, 18 constituencies where 3 persons are contesting for the upcoming primaries, 2 persons each contesting for 15 constituencies” Sam Pyne said
Sam Pyne revealed that the vetting process will be on the 28th of February, 2020 up unto 8th March, 2020.
“We are starting the vetting process on 28th of this month February to 8th of March this year. But you know that Ashanti region is hosting this year’s 6th Match and 7th March too is the Ashanti regional Minister father’s funeral most of the aspirations would want to go and sympathize with him so there would be some changes in the vetting process in Ashanti region” he indicated
Sam Pyne therefore cautioned the aspirations to desist from campaign of insults since it will affect the party’s fortunes as Ghana goes to the polls this year.
Ashanti region which is the world bank of the NPP has recorded some riots as far as the picking and filing of the nomination forms are concerned which does not speak well of the party.
Places like Asante Mampong constituency, Adansi Asokwa constituency and some constituencies where protests were held against the imposition of MPs.
“Descent campaigning will help put the party together after the primaries, so we are entreating each and every one of them not attack any contender as they about going into serious campaign” he reminded them

COCOA COOPERATIVE UNION PAYS VISIT TO AMANSIE SOUTH DCE AHEAD OF IT’S INAUGURAL CEREMONY.

The Amansie South District Cocoa Cooperative Union has paid a special visit to the office of District Chief Executive Hon.William Asante Bediako to introduce themselves to him ahead of their historic upcoming inaugural ceremony.
The event which is expected to take off this month provide opportunity for the key members of the association to introduce themselves to the number one gentleman of the district Hon William Asante Bediako who has contributed immensely for the farmers within the district for less than three years under his tenure in office.

Speaking to the newsmen at the short ceremony, the President of the Union, Mr. Kwasi Afriyie Appian opined that since the District was carved out of Amansie West District in 2018 cocoa farmers in the District, who are members of the Union traveled to Antoakrom to seek for their warfare so due to inadequate logistics but with the kind courtesy of the hard working DCE.

According to the union, the DCE has provide them with enabling environment and this is the time for the members of the association to introduce themselves to the people of the district about the need for others to join them.
Stressing the Union would be inaugurated on March 18, 2020. He indicated that recently farming has become lucrative venture which he charge others who are not part of the union to as matter as urgency rush to join it so they can benefit from the government interventions.
He said currently about Eight thousand members, which includes the women group, currently in the district and that barring any hitches.
Throwing more light ahead of this official inaugural ceremony, the President of the District Women Cocoa farmers Association, Mrs. Mary Aboraah, also commended the DCE for taking time out of his busy schedule to listen to their concerns and the assurance he gave to them for his unflinching support to the Association.
She said as the leader of the women’s Union she will make sure that whatever the intervention been given to them by the government will be shared without any partiality.
She therefore advised her colleague farmers to support the leaders with all what they can to make it sustain.


On his part, the District Chief Executive, Hon. William Bediako Asante, commended the leadership of the Union for taking the initiative to form the Union in the District. He said people go through a lot of stress in accessing the Union at Antoakrom and that he is very optimistic that ones the Union is inaugurated it will go a long way to help the farmers in the District.
He finally said his door are open to the union should they need any help from him.
In conclusion Hon.William Asante Bediako outlined some of the interventions been enrolled by the president His.Excellence Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo such as planting for food and export,one district one dam,one district one factory aiming to improve the lives of farmers in this country.
